Slide Stencil is the Google Slides Add-on I built that helps you generate Google Slides from a template.

If you haven't used Slide Stencil before, this tutorial will help you get started.

Once you're familiar with the basics, you're ready to add images as well.

Step 1: Add Placeholder Images to Your Template Slide

The Slide Stencil sidebar includes a dedicated button called "+ Add Template Image" that helps you add placeholder images to your slide.

Make sure you have Slide Stencil open and you've selected your template slide. (Follow this tutorial if you haven't done this yet.)

In the right sidebar, under the "Template Variables" header, find the "+ Add Template Image" button. When you click it, you will be prompted to choose a name. Just like with regular variables, the name can be anything you want. Whatever name you choose will be used as the column name in step 2.

Step 2: Insert Images into your Data Table

In Shuffle Buddy, slides are generated from a data table. Each row of the table becomes one slide.

We need a way to insert an image into a cell.

Each cell can only contain text, so instead of pasting in an image, we're going to paste in the image's URL. That means you'll have to choose an image you find online (most likely on Google images) OR upload your image online yourself.

To use an image from Google Images or any other website:

1. Find the image you want to use
2. Right click on the image
3. Choose "Copy Image Address" (NOT "Copy Image")
4. Paste the image URL into the cell in your data table

To use an image of your own:

1. Upload the image to a website like CubeUpload, ImgBB, MyIMGs, FreeImageHost, or similar. (I am not endorsing any one service)
2. Copy the image URL generated by the service. Remove anything that is not part of the link itself.
3. Paste the image URL into the cell in your data table

Step 3: Generate Slides with Template Images

After completing steps 1-2, all you need to do is click the "Generate Slides" button.

Your placeholder image from Step 1 will be replaced with the images you specified in your data table in Step 2.
